The Fgura council has to fork out about €400 in damages after vandals broke nine glass orbs and detached a steel light pole in the locality’s public garden.
The vandal attack took place on Monday evening when a group of people threw stones at the glass orbs and removed the pole from the Patri Redent Gauci Garden, the council said.
Fgura mayor Byron Camilleri condemned the vandalism and pointed out that it was not the first time it happened.
He estimated the damages to amount to around €400, including €200 for the new metal pole.
“We are planning to instal CCTV cameras to prevent it from happening again,” Mr Camilleri said.
The council said the money used to replace and repair the items would be deducted from other planned projects.
