Nine of Malta's best known cooks have teamed up to produce a cookbook as a fund-raising gesture for l-Istrina.

The publication was launched this morning as the cooks served breakfast at San Anton Palace.

President George Abela said a characteristic of l-Istrina was how it united people. In this case, cooks who normally produced their own cook books and programmes had joined together to raise funds for l-istrina.

The book is called Tisjir mill-Qalb, building on the theme of l-Istrina which is L-Istrina mill-Qalb.

The cooks are Anton B Dougall, Carmen Tedesco, Peter Dacoutros, Aaron Degabriele, Mark Camilleri, Carmelo Borg Bonaci, Joseph Mizzi, Marco Pinelli, and Mark Schembri, who is the Palace cook.

The recipe book will be on sale from the Malta Book Fair as of Wednesday and from various outlets, including the offices of the Community Chest Fund at the Palace, Valletta, San Anton Palace, and Agenda.

L-Istrina events continue on November 19 with an auction of art works donated by leading artists, at the Palace, Valletta. There will be public viewing in the days preceding the event.

The President's Charity Run between San Anton and Valletta will follow on December 5.
