Floriana vs Tarxien Rainbows (today at 2 p.m., Tedesco Stadium).

Floriana and Tarxien Rainbows are on a high after both secured important victories in their last outings.

A stoppage-time goal from Michael Mecerod earned the Greens a 1-0 victory over Qormi and lifted them to a top-three position. Tarxien edged Sliema by the odd goal in three to obtain their second win in six matches.

Todor Raykov, the Floriana coach, is unlikely to make drastic changes to his starting formation although Mecerod’s strike has boosted his chances of reclaiming a first-team berth.

Brazilian defender Everton was due to have a fitness test yesterday after injury kept him out of Tarxien’s victory over Sliema.

Noel Coleiro, the Tarxien coach, has no other selection problems.

Marsaxlokk vs Ħamrun Spartans (today at 4 p.m., Tedesco Stadium).

Ħamrun Spartans will be going all out to extend their positive run and consolidate their position in the upper reaches of the table.

The erstwhile high-flying Marsaxlokk will be striving to bounce back from Monday’s defeat to Valletta, their first this season.

Apart from the absence of striker Julio Alcorse, who has received a two-match ban for his sending-off against Valletta, Marsaxlokk coach Patrick Curmi must also make do without Clive Brincat who has a hamstring injury.

On the positive side, Alfred Effiong, Sunday Eboh and Trevor Templeman have shaken off the knocks they picked up on Monday.

Ħamrun’s Scottish forward Dene Shields has made significant progress in his recovery from a knee problem but he’s still not 100 per cent fit.

Midfielder Jonathan Holland will also miss today’s match for the Spartans as he is down with flu.
