Robert Galea, an internationally acclaimed singer and songwriter of Christian music, will be ordained by Archbishop Paul Cremona tomorrow.

The 28-year-old singer from Tal-Ibraġ started his studies at the Archbishop’s Seminary in 2003 but finished them at the Seminary in Melbourne.

Mr Galea had performed for Pope Benedict in Sydney during the 2008 World Youth Day celebrations in front of 500,000 people. He also formed part of a group of contemporary pop singers who recorded the official song for the day entitled Receive the Power.

His recordings include three CDs: the Divine Mercy Chaplet and the albums What a Day and Closer. He is working on a new album due for release later this year.

His ordination will take place at St Julians parish church at 6.30 p.m.

Following his ordination, Fr Galea will return to Australia to serve as a priest in the diocese of Sandhurst, Victoria.
