One in 10 patients who go to hospital acquire an infection, Health Minister Joe Cassar said.

He said this morning this happened because staff and other people did not wash their hands. The problem was EU-wide and very worrying.

Speaking at the launch of a hand washing campaign “Five moments for Hand Hygiene”, the minister said hands were invisible microbe carriers and with MRSA, a multi-drug resistant bacteria, it is one’s duty to do what he can to eliminate it.
