A French woman escaped serious injuries and possibly death this morning when a wave pushed her from a cliff at Wied iz-Zurrieq into the sea.

The woman, who was with her husband, was helped back to shore by people who were on site.

She suffered from scratches but did not seem to be seriously injured and refused medical assistance.
