The prices of diesel, kerosene and gasoil have all gone up by 1c while those of unleaded and lead-reduced petrol have remained the same, energy provider Enemalta announced yesterday.

The price of fuel had already gone up on Tuesday with the imposition of a three cents per litre increase in excise duty.

This effectively means that prices since the beginning of October have risen by four cents for diesel and kerosene (both now €1.12 a litre) and three cents for unleaded petrol (now €1.22) and the outgoing LRP (now €1.29).

Gasoil now costs €0.77 a litre, an overall rise of 6c which includes a 5c increase in excise duty.

The higher price for diesel, Enemalta said, was due to the average 7.3 per cent higher Platts prices, which were then mitigated by favourable exchange rate movements at the time of purchase.

The same applied to petrol, where the more favourable exchange rate kept the price stable, despite a 9.9 per cent increase in October delivery prices over September ones.
