Żejtun parish priest Fr Eric Overend and the Żejtun Parish Youth Commission are organising a series of activities in Żejtun focusing on the threat of drug use to society, entitled Gutz li tgħid le (Guts to say no).

Stands will be set up by groups on St Gregory’s church parvis today between 9 and 11.15 a.m. Participants include the Żejtun Scouts group, Youths at Local, Żejtun Band, Banda Beland, Paolo Freire Institute, Island Sanctuary, Museum Żejtun section, Żejtun Corinthians Nursery and the area’s superintendent, who will give a presentation.

At 11.30 a.m. a youth Mass will be held with the participation of the Żejtun Youth Mass group and animated by Christian rock band Heartbeat.

Tomorrow, activities start at 6 p.m. at the Żejtun parish hall with a forum for 12-year-olds led by anti-drug campaigner and expert Anna Vella. She will also address a talk for parents of youths at the same venue at 7.45 p.m.

An interactive discussion for young people aged 13 and older will be held at 7 p.m. at the Nazju Falzon centre. This activity is being organised by the drama school Free Spirit and Sedqa.
