A number of important facts seemed to have been missed in Stephen Attard’s article ‘No more Church schools’ (The Sunday Times, October 17

1. The primary school expansion that three boys’ secondary Church schools will be opening, together with another secondary Church school for girls, are being financed solely by the schools and not by the Church authorities.

2. These projects are being financed by the individual schools through bank loans which willgradually be paid off through donations and other fund-raisingactivities.

3. On the need of this school expansion project or otherwise, one can only say that for every placing in a Church school, three applications are submitted.

The Church schools expansion, announced last January, is purely in line with the Church’s principle of continuity.

This offers students in kindergarten and primary Church schools the opportunity to further their studies at secondary level in other Church schools.

At present, Church schools provide education to almost36 per cent of the studentpopulation – 16,669 students.
