Two brothers who allegedly tried to seriously injure their other sibling at the Rabat police station were yesterday granted bail on condition they do not venture into the field where the whole argument began.

Michael Xuereb, 46, from Mosta and his brother, Vincent, 49, from Rabat stand accused of trying to seriously injure their brother Diego on Thursday evening.

The argument between them began in a field owned by the family along Valletta Road, Rabat. When Diego went to the police station to make a report, Michael and Vincent followed him there, Police Inspector Robert Vella told the court.

The two brothers denied trying to seriously injure Diego, holding him against his will, threatening him, swearing in public and damaging a policeman’s uniform.

Magistrate Antonio Mizzi granted them bail against a personal guarantee of €5,000 each and ordered them not to go back to the field.

Lawyer Michael Sciriha was defence counsel.
