The red tape faced by couples undergoing separation proceedings has been opened to public consultation in an initiative launched by Parliament’s Social Affairs Committee yesterday.

People who are separated or going through separation procedures have been asked to write to the committee about the bureaucratic problems they encounter in their everyday dealings with the public service.

Chairman Edwin Vassallo said the three-month consultation process would lead to a debate within the committee.

Comments must reach the committee by the end of January at socialaffairs.parliament@gov.mt or by mail to The Secretary, Social Affairs Committee, Parliament, Valletta. The public can also contact committee members directly via e-mail: Mr Vassallo – edwin.vassallo@gov.mt, Frederick Azzopardi – azzopardi.frederick@gov.mt, Justyne Caruana – justyne.caruana@gov.mt, Michael Farrugia – michael.farrugia@gov.mt, Michael Gonzi – michael.gonzi@gov.mt , Stephen Spiteri – stephen.a.spiteri@gov.mt and Anthony Zammit – anthony.zammit-borg@gov.mt.
