Is YouTube the venue for artists of the future -- and if, so, can they make a living from it?

The Guggenheim has cast its spotlight on the emerging field in "YouTube Play, a Biennial of Creative Video".

The selection of 25 videos deemed the most creative, innovative and groundbreaking among some 23,000 submissions, is being shown at its New York flagship museum, as well as Berlin, Bilbao and Venice locations.

It's a fitting international spectacle for the medium -- but artists working in online video say that though there's global reach, it’s still a hard road to make money in the online creative arts.
