Obituary
CASSAR. On October 27, at Mater Dei Hospital, FRANCIS (baker) of Qormi, residing at Rabat, aged 52, passed away peacefully, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his wife Pauline, his daughters Chantelle and her husband Simon Borg, Cherise and Rachelle, his mother Lola, his brothers and sisters, his father-in-law Ambrogio Galea and his family, nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital today at 3 p.m. for St Paul’s parish church, Rabat, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 3.30 p.m. followed by interment in the family grave at Santa Margherita Cemetery, Rabat. No flowers by request but donations to Villa Mgr Gonzi, Siġġiewi, will be greatly appreciated. Lord, grant him eternal rest.
BUHAGIAR. On October 28, ADELAIDE, aged 97, of Luqa, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her beloved nephews Andrew, his wife Mary and their daughter Caroline Mitchell, Anthony, Joe and his wife Evelyn, Manwel and his wife Carmen, her niece Carmen and her husband Michael King, other relatives and friends including the residents and staff at the Mtarfa home for the Elderly. The funeral leaves the Mtarfa home today at 3 p.m. for Luqa parish church where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 3.30 p.m. followed by interment in the family grave at the Luqa cemetery. Lord, grant her eternal rest.
GALEA URPANI. On October 28, at Mater Dei Hospital, ALFRED, aged 63, passed away peacefully, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his wife Veronica, his children Clara and her husband Kevin Azzopardi, Daniela and her husband Mark Azzopardi, Rebecca and her fiancé Wesley Ellul, his grandchildren Matthias and Michela, his brothers and sisters, Francis, Marie, Carmen and Josianne and their spouses, in-laws, nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital today at 1.45 p.m. for Mosta Rotunda parish church where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 2.30 p.m. followed by interment at the Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. On October 28, at Mater Dei Hospital, JOSEPHINE of Valletta (ex-President, Legion of Mary, St Paul Shipwrecked, Valletta), aged 99, passed away peacefully, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her sister Mary of UK, her niece Yvonne, nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends. 1936–1939 architectural awards
George Camilleri will focus on the awards for architectural excellence in Malta conferred between 1936 to 1939be during a lecture on November 11.
Mr Camilleri’s interest in the subject was born while helping as a volunteer to catalogue the Gollcher archives at Palazzo Falson, in Mdina, when he came across an invitation from Sir Harry Luke to Olaf Gollcher inviting him to sit on the jury of a forthcoming Architecture Award, an initiative established by Sir Harry to encourage excellence in Maltese architecture.
The lecture, organised by Din l-Art Ħelwa, will be held at 133, Melita Street and starts at 6 p.m.
Power cuts
There will be power cuts as follows tomorrow:
From 8.30 to 11 a.m. in parts of Ta’ Karkar and Ġnien Xibla streets, Ġnejna, Mannar and Komettiva streets in Xagħra.
From 2.30 to 5 p.m. in parts of Gajdoru Street, Tal-Masri and Għajn Qamar streets in Xagħra.
Cacti and succulents exhibition
The Cactus and Succulent Society of Malta will be holding its annual exhibition of cacti and other succulent plants at the Victoria Hall (L-Oratorju), Oratory Street, Naxxar tomorrow and on Sunday between 8.30 a.m. and 7.30 p.m.
The society holds meetings for members every month and different topics relating to the hobby are explained and discussed. All members receive a monthly letter and an annual magazine. They also have free access to books available at the society’s library.
DLĦ concert
Din l-Art Ħelwa said it was not accepting further reservations for the vocal recital by Lydia Caruana and dinner to be held at the Auberge de Castille on November 27. It said seating was fully taken up.
