Two thousand trees are to be planted at Dar Frate Jacobe in Marsascala as part of a 34U initiative by Gasan Enterprises.

The company is providing clients with the opportunity to contribute towards a greener environment by planting a tree to offset the carbon footprint produced by the vehicle’s emissions while supporting sustainable living and permaculture.

“Permaculture is an approach to designing agricultural systems that mimic the relationships found in natural ecologies, making it self-sustainable,” said David Gasan, managing director of Gasan Enterprises Ltd.

“With a little more help, the people at Dar Frate Jacobe can realise the change they are working so hard to see in the world – energy efficient, sustainable living. We are delighted to be implementing this,” he said, adding; “I have no doubt that we will see a great response to this initiative and I look forward to seeing the end result.”

This is the latest green initiative that confirms Gasan Enterprises Ltd’s long-standing commitment to environmental issues. The company was the first car importer locally to support the Clear Air 34U campaign back in 2007 and still believes that as a car importer, it is duty bound to contribute its share towards offsetting carbon emissions created by cars. Gasan Group’s green credentials are also on the rise as the group’s building is currently equipped with photovoltaic panels.

Minister for Resources and Rural Affairs George Pullicino said that it is very encouraging to note that since the inception of the 34U scheme some five years ago, 100,000 trees have been sponsored through this initiative this year.
