A Vintage Motors Festival is being organised by the Federazzjoni Maltija Vetturi Antiki (FMVA) is on Sunday.

Sponsored by Thomas Smith Insurance, The event will start with a static show at 9 a.m. at Misrah Ir-Rebha, Vittoriosa.

The Time Consistency Run will start at 10.01 a.m. with a half-way halt in front of the Hotel Fortina near the Sliema Ferries at noon, when the vehicles will be on display.

The run will restart at 13.01 p.m. and finish opposite the Roman Villa at Rabat at 3 p.m. where the vehicles will remain on display for another two hours until the results are announced.

The classic and vintage machines date from around the 1920s to the late 1970s.

The FMVA was founded in 1998 and comprises the Historic Motorcycle Club, the Old Motors Club and the Military Vehicles Collectors Club.

Its aims are to promote the interests of classic vehicle owners in the Maltese Islands. Through negotiations with the authorities, the federation has obtained favourable road license and registration concessions for genuine certified classics.

The three clubs have around 400 members between them who own hundreds of classic cars, motorcycles and military vehicles.

The oldest “genuinely local” (i.e. not recently imported) vehicles in Malta are a 1903 Minerva and a 1904 Cadillac.

For the first time ever this event is also open to owners of pre-1976 vehicles, who are not members of the mentioned three clubs.

A compulsory briefing will be held at the Aurora Hall, Triq il-Kbira, Balzan at 8 p.m. today.
