An excise duty of €9 on every tonne of cement is being introduced within the concept of the polluter‐pays‐principle to continue improving the environment, the Finance Minister said in the Budget speech this evening.

He also announced that next year, the government would launch a series of initiatives to help Local Councils take care of the common parts of government housing and provide child‐minding services for children who arrive early or leave late from the school which they attend.
