Updated: Coffins float on floodwaters in Qormi!

Empty coffins were seen floating in floodwaters in Qormi this morning after an undertaker's store was flooded.

Qormi was among the worst hit areas of the heavy downpours overnight, with several cars being carried away by the water and being extensively damaged. The water even halted a bus, which itself was flooded. (see separate stories)

The above picture was taken by Richard Hili. Also note the damaged white car.

Well said Norman! Well said! Millions of euros for them to sit comfy, millions of worries for the poor people. When shall we learn?

you are right about not comparing malta to austalia but also remember that we are not equipped for this sort of weather, this happens ones in a decade so do not expect that our existent drain system can handel a rain flow of this sort. as you said australia is a continent and is economicaly much more stable than malta, moreover its a tropical region so it is equipped for the worst.

Very tasteless comment about Natalie Wood. Not funny at all !!!
Its ok to have fun but when its at the expense of someone's dearly beloved who happened to die tragically it is not right at all.
Once again some people show their sheer ignorance . Would be a lot better if these people showed a bit of respect instead.

I feel bad for the busness man who lost all those coffins. But what a cool time for this to happen. Childreen Holloween started early in Malta.Hope the rain has stopped now and no one was hurt, we're having havey rains with winds 50 to 60 miles an hour.
