Għallanqas karozzi mhux twiebet.
Jista' s-sur Pawlu Zahra jgħidilna xinhi l-mużika tant addattata għal dan il-video? Forsi Charles Camilleri?
@Kenneth Curmi. Why don't you emigrate to the Holland? If you keep your finger in the dyke you'll never get your feet wet by sea-water seeping in. Of course if it rains - and it rains a lot in Holland - you are on the wrong side of the dyke. In which case, you will either have to ride on the dyke (she might like it), live in a house-boat on either side of the dyke or better still, emigrate to high ground. You are spoilt for choice. Either Dingli Cliffs or, if you are feeling more adventurous, the Himalayas. There you would witness avalanches aplenty and this music would be just the ticket, echoing beautifully down every valley.

Here's an even better comment;
why on Earth are we draining valleys (etc) using roads (surface area)?
Can you imagine the Nile being built over?

Why on earth do residents park their car overnight in a flood-prone valley/area, as in the case of Balzan? I'm sure that most residents who have long lived there have long known about the situation.
@CPD
I suggest that you issue early warnings on all media (radio, TV, online newspapers/feeds/SMS subscription service, etc.), interrupting any programmes that are running - as such warnings take precedence, hence CIVIL PROTECTION !!
Ray Buhagiar
Oct 25th 2010, 18:20
It's a shame that CPD published warnings when it was too late (at 7:00am). May I suggest that CPD should invest in a mobile messaging system and as soon as they get information of a storm, they send flood warnings to all subscribed. I am sure that with this system, those living in a flooded area would have time to reduce or avoid damages.

very valid suggestion!such an alert could save lives.I hope the CPD takes up your suggestion.thank you to all cpd staff and afm personnel who worked tirelesly to ensure everyone's safety.

Erm...any strategic action Plans from Gov't. What if the rain was 800mm. Do we get in those coffins and die laughing all the way? It's obvious that directing the water in the sewage and sea is only reasing the problem of drainage. So any Plan A Plan B Plan C...Plan A direct the water flows into huge underground reseviors , which water could be then used for agriculture for ex. PLan B Huge Umbrellas hehe. Plan C laugh about it until we get a entire week of rain and transform our cars ino Gondolas. You Choose.

A big thank you to our local councils and to the central Government for fulfilling their promises to curb this problem. Maybe we should allow them say another twenty years for the finishing touches. Meanwhile we dish out money to repair our property and cars. Once again a big thank you!!!!

I could not stand watching the clip. It is a disgrace, we thave the Civel Portection who stands 24 hour watch for problems across the World and no Warning on the media that heavy rain is expected. After, they come from hibernation to save lives. They could have less problems for them selves if they cared to informed beforehand. Thank you for your service. Care owners should sue for damages.

This footage just proves one ugly truth. When we try to defy nature, and its course it always comes back with vengeance at some point later.
The Balzan valley road was a valley, and no matter what we do and how hard we try to remove it, it will remain what nature meant it to be - simply a valley.
we have built right next to it, under it and destroyed its course over the years, but its a battle against nature and it can't be won. T

Your comment about the wardens having a field day giving tickets after the storm is hilarious but not too far fetched!
This morning there was a warden hiding behind some trees who seemed to be recording the car numbers of drivers who were stuck in their cars in the massive traffic jam in Qormi and were using their mobile phones!
Surely in emergency cases like today's the wardens would be better employed helping stranded motorists and directing traffic!

Well said Louis! I am not a Balzan Valley resident, but I have to make use of that street daily to drive my children to/ from school. After the recent downpour the smell in the area was disgusting. Apart from that, the condition of the road surface of Balzan Valley is terrrible. My car is all rattled up due to this. Driving through this stretch of road feels like driving on the moon.
