Another three farmers’ markets are to be developed and the social security contribution of full time farmers and growers is to be reduced to 12 per cent, Finance Minister Tonio Fenech said in the Budget speech this evening.

Farmers pay an average of €520 a year in national insurance.

A €400,000 fund to mitigate the increase in the international price of wheat and cereals is being set up, the minister added.
