The Malta Amateur Athletic Association (MAAA) and eight other European member federations within European Athletics have launched a major online survey on attitudes and issues affecting women leaders in athletics.
Persons from more than 25 countries across Europe are expected to take part. Participants who complete the three-part survey will be eligible for incentive prizes, including two expenses paid trips for two people to the 2011 European Indoor Championships in Paris.
The survey is open to anyone interested in athletics. The link to the survey can be found on the MAAA website www.athleticsmalta.org.
The survey is part of an overall project funded by the European Union and led by the Netherlands athletics federation (Atletiekunie).
“Gender is an important issue for the future of athletics and through this project we are trying to chart the best way forward based on what the people in the sport think,” Sylvia Barlag, vice-president of Atletiekunie and a member on the European Athletics Council, said.
The project is among the first to be supported under the European Union’s new budget for preparatory actions in the field of sport.
