Pumpkin fair at Manikata

Koperattiva Rurali Manikata (KRM) will be organising the third annual pumpkin fair along the streets of Manikata next Sunday from 10 a.m.

Stands will be set up selling Maltese dishes made with pumpkin, prepared by KRM volunteers.

There will be a stand selling pumpkin soup and risotto made by students from the Institute of Tourism Studies, as well as a bar set up by volunteers in aid of Manikata parish centre.

There will also be a fair trade stand, live traditional Maltese music, activities for children, an exhibition of restored antique water pumps, an exhibition of old agricultural tools, and a classic car show.

All proceeds from the event will go towards financing KRM projects, including the restoration of Ir-Razzett tal-Qasam; the development of a rural heritage trail stretching from Għajn Tuffieħa to Manikata; the planting of endemic and indigenous trees, shrubs and plants; the planting of olive trees in abandoned fields in order to turn them into profitable olive groves; and the restoration of the armoury of the former Għajn Tuffieħa Royal Marines Training Centre.
