President to visit patients in Britain

President George Abela and Mrs Abela will be visiting Maltese patients receiving treatment in the UK this week.

Around 300 Maltese patients receive treatment in the UK every year. The patients and their families receive support from the Malta Community Chest Fund to help them face the ordeal brought about by medical treatment abroad.

Dr Abela and Mrs Abela will be staying with patients and their relatives at the Franciscan Sisters’ premises in London.

The HSBC Malta Foundation presented the President with tickets to donate to the patients and their visiting families for the Beatles Philharmonic Tribute concert.

The concert will be held at the Royal Albert Hall on Thursday and will feature the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra under the direction of Alan Chircop, a 100-strong choir and guest artists.
