Obituary

CASSAR. With deepest regret we announce the death of SAM of Xagħra, Gozo, who went to join our Lord on October 21 at the age of 72. He left to mourn him his wife Angela and his daughters Alysia and Jeanette and their respective fiancés Manwel and Jonathan, his brothers and sisters, Tony, Carmena, Lillian, Joe, Tereza, Zarena and Chris, his wife’s sisters and brothers, Lina, Peter, Sam and Sonia who live in Australia, as well as Jane, their respective husbands and wives and many relatives and friends. The funeral takes place today. The cortège leaves Craig Hospital at 4.30 p.m. for Xagħra Basilica where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 5 p.m. We would appreciate your kind prayers while we mourn our beloved Sam.

CLEWS. On October 21, at St Vincent de Paul residence, ANNIE of Cospicua (Bormla), widow of Charles D. Clews, aged 88, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her children Miriam and her husband John Zammit, Jane and her husband Alfred Perini, Irene and her husband Joe Bondin, Norman and his wife Josette, Alan and his wife Janet, Kenneth and his wife Pauline, Kevin and his wife Christine, Olga, widow of her son Hilary, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, relatives and friends. The funeral leaves St Vincent de Paul residence tomorrow at 2 p.m. for the Immaculate Conception parish church, Cospicua, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 2.30 p.m., followed by interment in the family grave at St Andrew’s Cemetery, Luqa. No flowers by request but donations to Dar tal-Providenza, Siġġiewi, will be greatly appreciated. Lord, grant her eternal rest. The family regret they are unable to receive visitors.

MELI. On October 22, at Mater Dei Hospital, JOSEPH of Fgura (ex-RGM Stationery), aged 70, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his wife Antoinette, his children Ruth and her husband Lawrence and Ivan and his wife Natalie, his grandchildren Eman, Luca, Gabrielle and Jacob, his mother-in-law Olga, his brothers and sisters, his in-laws and their respective spouses and families, nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital today at 8 a.m., for Our Lady of Mount Carmel parish church, Fgura, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 8.30 a.m., followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. Donations to Dar tal-Providenza, Siġġiewi, would be greatly appreciated. Lord, grant him eternal rest.

THEUMA. On October 22, at Mater Dei Hospital, SPIRIDIONE of Marsa, aged 84, passed away peacefully, comforted by the rites of the Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his wife Dolores, his children Carmen and her husband Joe, Tessie and her husband Vince, Salvu and his wife Jackie, residing in UK, and Twanny, his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, in-laws, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital tomorrow at 9.30 a.m. for Maria Regina parish church, Marsa, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 9.45 a.m., followed by interment in the family grave at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Dar tal-Providenza, Siġġiewi, will be greatly appreciated. Lord, grant him eternal rest.

Dissertation showcase

The Department of Mathematics, Science and Technical Education of the Faculty of Education, University of Malta, will be holding its annual Dissertation Showcase on Friday between 6 and 8 p.m. at the KSU Common Room on the Msida campus.

The event is open to all academic members of staff, students and the public. The seminar should be of special interest to students working on their research project.

Power cuts

There will be power cuts in the following localities tomorrow:

From 8 to 11 a.m. in parts of Pope John Paul, L-Imgħallem, Antonio Mallia and St Ursola streets in Victoria.

From 2.30 to 5 p.m. in Santa Verna, St Anthony and St Joseph streets, St Anthony Square in Xagħra.

From 8.30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Palm Beach and Ridott streets in Baħar iċ-Ċagħaq.

From 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Wied Blandun A and B streets in Paola.

From 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Lanzon, St Mary, Annetto Caruana, Ġananton Tanti, Pietro Cagliardi and Dun Ġwann Barbara streets in Tarxien.

The power supply will be suspended as follows on Monday:

From 7.30 a.m. to 2 p.m. in parts of Ġużè Miċeli, Sliema and Madonna Tal-Ġebla streets in Gżira.

From 8 a.m. to noon in parts of Dun Alwiġ Galea, Dorġa, Victor Vassallo, Minġel and Sienja streets, Ħarrub, Balluta and Nebbieta streets in Ta’ Qali.

From 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Bur, Magħsar and Ħofra streets in Żabbar.

From 8.30 a.m. to 3 p.m. in parts of Hope and Coronation streets, Legend street in Mosta.

ALPS grand reunion
