Men plead not guilty to stealing doctor's laptop
Two men were this morning remanded in custody after pleading not guilty to stealing a doctor’s laptop.
Ivan Camilleri, 35, and Gianluca Torres, 37, both from St Paul’s Bay, allegedly stole the laptop from the Floriana health centre last Thursday.
Mr Camilleri also pleaded not guilty to breaching the conditions of a previous release while Mr Torres pleaded not guilty to relapsing.

breaching conditions of a previous release and a relapser. I see yet more suspended sentences in the pipeline.

And where there any patient details on the laptop? Where these encrypted? Did the Data Protection Commissioner investigate the case of the lost laptop? In UK you will get a fine from the UK ICO for not ensuring the privacy of personal data especially sensitive data.

I understand and fully agree with Mr. Formosa. On the other hand the Doctor was at his job and it was stolen not lost . But as i said Mr formosa has a very good point and to add to it maybe it should be enforced by the law that Doctors and even other people that are carrying personal information about their clients on laptops it has to be encrypted.
