Forum asks government to mitigate the burdens
The Forum Unions Maltin has appealed to the government to reduce the burdens being shouldered by Maltese workers, families and pensioners in the next budget.
Representatives of the Forum this morning had a meeting with Finance Minister Tonio Fenech during which the Forum's proposals for the budget were discussed.
The Forum told the minister the government should concentrate on activities which improved the Gross Domestic Product, the deficit and productivity so that wealth would be generated. However, the budget should also see how to overcome social and real poverty.
The Forum appealed to the minister to do his utmost for the confederation to start forming part of the Malta Council for Economic and Social Development.

When are we going to grow out of this culture of dependence? Isn't almost fifty years since independence enough? From where will the money 'to mitigate the burden' come from? The governemnt can either borrow it or it can raise taxes? Both are disastrous. So please be realistic and realise that we need to work harder to afford the quality of life that we are used to.

In my opinion the main reason of what they are doing and saying is just to be members in the MCESD. They should ask their friends to give them one of their seats. Hope its not part of a hidden agenda
