Mark Sammut, who forms part of the ASA Team, broke the 100m butterfly national short course record on Sunday when he took part in the UK National Inter-County Team Championship Gala held in Ponds Forge, Sheffield.

Sammut, who presently trains in the UK with Kelly Swimming Club, was selected to participate in this meet involving all English Counties plus teams from Scotland and Wales.

Sammut, who was part of the 30-strong Devon team, clocked 59.29 in the 100m butterfly short-course to lower his previous record of 59.48 which he had established last February, also in the UK.
