Further success for Yellow Pages’ recycling programme

Yellow Pages has reached the completion of the distribution of the latest edition of their directory which is delivered free of charge to each and every household in Malta and Gozo as well as to company and other offices in both Maltese Islands.

During the distribution process, the company registered a three per cent increase over last year’s number of delivered books. During the same process, Yellow Pages personnel not only delivered the new directories but also collected old copies of all directories from doorsteps and these will be eventually taken away for recycling purposes. The collection of the old books increased by 21 per cent.

“This is a big success for Yellow Pages, primarily because it shows that the general public is aware of the utility of the directory and prepares itself for the date of delivery; this by leaving the old book for collection upon delivery of the new one. It also signifies that the public is aware of the efforts taken on by Yellow Pages in actually bothering to find effective methods of recycling all that used paper instead of letting it all go to waste,” a company statement said.

Niki Soler, Yellow Pages’ managing director, stated that the company works hard to effectively advertise both its distribution and its recovery programmes in various ways. One case in point is the door-to-door flyer that is distributed a couple of days before Yellow Pages personnel visit each household to deliver the new book.

However, the success of the initiative is ultimately to be attributed to the public, he said, which cooperated fully and made this incredible improvement and increased input in returns possible.

Yellow Pages (Malta) Ltd. is a subsidiary of the Ark Publishing Group. It has been publishing the Yellow Pages since 1997 and each year distributes 200,000 directories free of charge to the general public.
