Labour MP Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca has presented a private member's motion in Parliament calling on the House to discuss ways o remove danger for pedestrians at the Mriehel Bypass.
The motion calls on the government to hold talks with Qormi council and people who live near the bypass with a view to securing a safe method how people can cross this road.
Two young women were killed when they were hit by a car while crossing this busy road some years ago. The government had at the time proposed to set up a footbridge, but the plans later appeared to have been shelved. Calls for the setting up of traffic lights were also dismissed, although speed cameras were installed.
