A man who was tailing his wife after suspecting she was going out with someone else, has been acquitted of scratching the other man's Mercedes, for lack of evidence.
A court heard that Emanuel Grogan, 47, in a statement given to the police, had admitted to having been near a Mercedes belonging to David Debono at the MIA car park. He had been taking pictures of his wife because they were in the process of separation.
He said he had bent down near the car to pick up a cigarette after it fell from his hands, but he denied damaging the vehicle.
Photographs produced by the prosecution showed scratches to the car door and a person near the vehicle.
The court said that although one could argue that Mr Grogan, who was following his wife, could carry out such childish acts, it could not conclude that the person in the picture was Mr Grogan.
He was therefore found not guilty of the charges.
