Ronaldo: Brazil veteran striker Ronaldo said he is keen on one day becoming chairman of his club Corinthians. The former Inter, Real Madrid and Milan forward is now winding down his career with the Sao Paulo league side. But he said in a twitter post that taking the job on “would give me immense pleasure as I would be linked to football and to a club which I love.”

Bonera: Daniele Bonera told Milan he is ready to play against Real Madrid tomorrow following Thiago Silva’s injury in the 3-1 win over Chievo on Saturday. “Obviously, I hope Thiago has nothing serious but in any case, I’m available for the team. It is up to the coach though as there are other team-mates who can do well in that role.”

Rooney: Man. United dismissed claims they will sell Wayne Rooney in January as “nonsense”. Although they rarely comment on individual stories, United have opted to make a brief response to suggestions Rooney’s alleged rift with Alex Ferguson is now so great that he will be ushered out of Old Trafford at the earliest opportunity. “To suggest Rooney will be sold in January is nonsense,” said a club spokesman.

Borini: Juventus are looking to bring talented striker Fabio Borini back to Serie A from Chelsea. The 19-year-old grew up in the Bologna youth academy and left in 2007 for Stamford Bridge, before he could legally sign a professional contract. Reports say Parma are also interested as Borini failed to win a place in Chelsea’s first team.

Hesmer: Columbus’s William Hesmer became only the second keeper in MLS history since New York’s Danny Cepero in 2008 to score a goal when he grabbed the injury-time equaliser in the Crew’s 2-2 draw with Toronto on Saturday. The goal came after a scramble in the wake of a Columbus corner kick.

Hopman Cup: Serbs Ana Ivanovic and Novak Djokovic are the top seeds for the Hopman Cup mixed teams event in Perth in January. The Serbs beat off the American team of Serena Williams and John Isner and Britons Laura Robson and Andy Murray for the top ranking. Belgian duo Justine Henin and Steve Darcis are fourth seeds.

Wedding Bells: Australian golfing great Greg Norman will wed for the third time after proposing to his interior designer girlfriend Kirsten Kutner. Norman, 55, said he surprised mother-of-two Kutner with a six-carat diamond ring. Kutner said Norman, 14 years her senior, was the “big love of my life.” Norman split from tennis player Chris Evert, his second wife, in 2009. His first marriage, to Laura Andrassy, ended in 2007.

Tennis: Thailand’s Tamarine Tanasugarn won the the singles crown at the Japan Open , dashing Kimiko Date Krumm’s bid to become the oldest player to win a tour title. The 33-year-old won 7-5, 6-7, 6-1. If she had won, Date Krumm, 40, would have become the oldest player to secure a tour title, overtaking Billie Jean King, who won in Birmingham in 1983 at 39 years, seven months and 23 days.

Rugby Union: Rugby league defector Sonny Bill Williams was fast-tracked into the All Blacks by coach Graham Henry after playing only a handful of rugby union games. Williams, who turned down a record five million dollar offer to stay with French club Toulon, was the one new face in the 30-man All Blacks squad named for the northern hemisphere tour.
