A 23-year-old man from Nadur is in critical condition after he was found injured and bleeding at home yesterday afternoon although what happened is still unknown.

The police said it was informed of the incident at about 1.30 p.m. Preliminary investigations indicated that when the man opened the front door of his residence, a relative who called at his house to visit him noticed he was injured and also had blood on his body.

He was admitted to Gozo General Hospital and, given the serious nature of his injuries, he was then taken to Mater Dei Hospital where it was later established he was in a critical condition.

Duty Magistrate Paul Coppini is holding an inquiry.
