Daniel Pearl Music Day to feature Renzo Spiteri, Idan Raichel’s Project

The 9th annual Daniel Pearl World Music Days Event in Malta will feature acclaimed percussionist Renzo Spiteri and the Idan Raichel’s Project from Israel. The concert is being organized by and in aid of Pamper the World, a newly-set up non-profit association successfully launched in Malta last winter.

Multi percussion player and drummer Renzo Spiteri together with The Idan Raichel will present a new and exciting performance that will merge Renzo's musical versatility and passion for cross-cultural concerts with The Project's enchanting blend of African, Latin American, Caribbean and Middle Eastern sounds and upbeat rhythms.

Renzo Spiteri is distinguished by his ability of adapting to a wide range of musical style - jazz to classical, from solo performances to fusion, contemporary, folk and word music. With a professional music career spanning more than 25years, he has established himself as a leading percussionist, creative artiste and session musician renowned for staging outstanding live performances in concert halls, theatre productions as well as art exhibition.

Together with Renzo, the performance will include Idan Raichel and his fellow musicians/singers Cabra Casai, Maya Avraham,Ravid Kahalani,Eyal Sela,Gilad Schmueli and Yaacob Segal.

The Idan Raichel Project burst onto Israel's music scene in 2002, changing the face of Israeli popular music and offering a message of love and tolerance that resonated strongly in a region of the world where headlines are too often dominated by conflict.

With sophisticated production techniques and a spectacular live show, the Idan Raichel Project has become one of the most unexpected success stories in Israeli music history. Wherever they perform, The Project unifies the audience in a celebration of that which is unique about the cultures of the world, as well as that in which we are all alike. Idan's poetic lyrics reflect his travels and contemplations; sung in Hebrew, Moroccan Arabic, Spanish, Cape Verdean Creole and Swahili, the songs address the struggle for personal fulfillment and the true meaning of love in a conflicted and complex world.

Their message of love joins the mission of Pamper the World which supports people who are victims of violence, people with special needs or diseases such as cancer and Parkinson, refugees, population victims of conflicts and elderly suffering from dementia, by providing holistic massage therapy, yoga, meditation and cultural interexchange. The association is also planning a mission to Israel and Palestine to provide emotional and physical support to the victims of the conflicts on both sides. A

nne Catisson, President of Pamper the World says: "We look at life from a different perspective and we believe that one needs to be in harmony with oneself to live at peace among others. The event will be an amazing artistic fusion between two cultures towards tolerance, peace and integration. Renzo was in Tel Aviv last month to work with Idan and the six other members of the Project. The event goes beyond the artistic aspect of the concert. It will lead the audience on a journey of shared cultural experiences through the universal language of music. Only thanks to the acceptance of each other’s differences can we learn how to live together. We are honoured to be part of this year Daniel Pearl World Music Days event to encourage communication between cultures."

The concert will be held at the Grandmasters’s Suite at the Hilton Malta on the 24th of October 2010 at 20h00.
