Din l-Art Ħelwa recently announced the two winners of the 2010 Marine Photographic Competition, an event organised each year to promote awareness about Malta’s marine environment.

The ‘underwater pollution’ category was won by Mario Micallef, who submitted a photograph of a catch of plastic and undesirable debris from the sea bed, entitled Better Off Recycled.

Andre Reine’s photograph of a jelly fish specimen captured on film, entitled Unidentified Floating Object, won the second category, which invited photographers to capture the beauty of underwater life on film.

Din l-Art Ħelwa council member and competition organiser Stanley Farrugia Randon said the NGO had received a record number of entries this year, which were all of a very high standard.

The photographs are on display at 133, Melita Street, Valletta.
