The Art of Wellbeing at Mater Dei

‘The Art of Wellbeing’ is an experience that is bringing performing arts and other artistic expressions within Mater Dei Hospital.

The project has been designed and coordinated by Atelier culture.projects in collaboration with TPE – Teatro Popolare Europeo (Torino) and the team of the Masters in Social and Community Theatre at University of Torino.

It has received the support of the Malta Arts Fund. The project has also received active collaboration from the Daniel Delicata Memorial Association, the Administration of Mater Dei Hospital and from Volserv.

Its main aim is to generate and contribute to the community wellbeing by using artistic practices.

Over the past few weeks the artistic team have worked with a multidisciplinary group of selected Maltese participants, training them into some of the techniques and methodologies of community theatre, to explore the meaning attributed to ‘wellbeing’, in Malta.

The final outcome will be a public performance in the form of a series of small theatrical interventions and interactive installations, that will be held in some of the public areas of Mater Dei Hospital next Wednesday.

‘The Art of Wellbeing’ is just a first step into the long term vision that Atelier would like to continue fostering, with the help of all stakeholders who show interest and commitment to the idea of creating a permanent group of professionals for Arts in the Healthcare in Malta.
