Five Maltese youngsters are making bold efforts to raise their game and acquire more experience by linking up with overseas clubs for training and playing purposes.

San Ġiljan players Anthony Bugeja and Jovin Ebejer, both aged 14, recently had a training camp with Italian teams Bogliasco and Nervi respectively.

While Ebejer continued to train to pep up his goalkeeping techniques, Bugeja concentrated more on his defending skills while training in the Liguria region.

The Aquatic Sports Association (ASA) said in a statement that there is a good possibility that Bugeja and Ebejer will be invited to rejoin Bogliasco and Nervi in November.

Marsascala SC player Jean Claude Cutajar and Sirens’ Dino Zammit are currently taking part in a six-month training camp with Serbian club Partizan Belgrade.

The two Maltese youngsters are under the tutelage of former Serbia player Igor Milanovic who is well-known in the local water polo scene.

Ryan Sciortino, who played for Marscala on loan from Neptunes in summer, left Malta recently to join Hungarian top-division club Szentes Vizilabda Klub.

This is the fourth year that the 19-year-old Sciortino will be in Hungary as he previously turned out for Honved, OSC and UTE.

Zammit, Cutajar and Sciortino were part of the Malta Under-19 squad that recently participated in the Mediterranean Comen Tournament in Larnaca, Cyprus.

The ASA concluded its statement by expressing its appreciation for the efforts being done by these young players to improve their level.
