Vodafone Malta has just organised an open day at its major stores to allow Maltese consumers to familiarise themselves better with the latest smartphones available.

Head of marketing Alexandre Froment-Curtil explained phone users were understanding the benefits of smartphones and were converting: Vodafone has noticed an increase in demand for smartphones over the past few months. In just two weeks’ time, over 30 per cent of Vodafone customers would have chosen the company’s smartphone plans. Mobile internet usage has increased by 80 per cent year-on-year across all Vodafone’s customer base. Faced with this increased interest, Vodafone Malta is committed to be at the forefront of the local smartphone market by offering the widest range locally.

At an event in Valletta, Mr Froment-Curtil referred to Vodafone’s continuous investment in Malta to upgrade its services nationwide: “Vodafone is at the forefront of HSDP network speeds. We have invested €12 million to upgrade our network and offer all customers the fastest mobile broadband speeds ever locally. Thanks to this investment, from download speeds of up to 7.2Mbps, Vodafone’s network is now reaching speeds of up to 14.4Mbps.”

Vodafone is also committed to providing services that are beneficial to Malta’s environment by promoting green initiatives throughout its business; 82 per cent of customers are signing up to e-billing.

“It’s all about educating our customers about the latest technology and to take up initiatives that help our environment,” Mr Froment-Curtil added. “We will be setting up our own gadget lab to tour the island so that we will be able to introduce the latest smartphones to companies and customers.”
