Trees on a roundabout in Paola were chopped down last week provoking a furious reaction from readers. When contacted, Environmental Landscape Consortium’s general manager Ronald Cuschieri said: “The trees were removed because Transport Malta is undertaking a new project that will see the centre of the roundabout landscaped and reconstructed. They weren’t a protected species and we had all the relevant permits for the work to be done.”
