Two accused of assaulting wife, girlfriend
A 34-year-old man ended up in court today, accused of assaulting his wife after he allegedly found her with another man.
The court was told that the man had called at his wife's flat in Tarxien just before 6 a.m. today and after finding her with another man, punched her and him and then dragged her out to his car and took her to his house - where he was found by the police.
The two are undergoing separation proceedings, but the accused told the court through his lawyers that his wife had sent him letters seeking a reconciliation, and he had therefore gone to speak to her.
The man was also accused of damaging the door to a block of flats and the door of his wife's flat. He pleaded not guilty to all charges.
The defence in its submissions also pointed out that the couple have two children, aged 10 and three.
Bail was granted against a personal guarantee of €5,000 and the man was ordered not to go near his wife when he went to see his children.
SOLDIER ARRAIGNED
In a separate case today, a 29-year-old soldier pleaded not guilty to having assaulted his former girlfriend at Valletta Waterfront, at about 5 a.m.
Ronnie Mackay, 29 of Hamrun, is alleged to have seen his girlfriend with another man. An argument ensued and he pushed her to the ground. She went to Valletta police station to file a report and he followed her inside, where he allegedly broke a window pane and resisted four officers.
He pleaded not guilty to assault, committing a crime he was duty-bound to prevent, harassing and threatening the woman and resisting the police.
Bail was granted against a personal guarantee of €3,000 and the man was ordered not to speak to his former girlfriend.

This is a true story...........A man caught his wife having fun with another man on his matrimonial bed. He stood in front of them and told them not make a move. He opened the balcony doors and started throwing all the furniture six stories down. The only thing he did not throw was the bed, because it was in use. Then he went to the police station and made a full report of what had happened. Then he bought a ticket and left to settle in England for ever. This case happened in the early fifties, and the man was my uncle. After 40 or more years he came back, and before they all died, there was forgiveness from all parts. Do not try to figure out who was he, because he was my mothers brother, so, not the same surname.

Why all this hussle? If God forbid this happened to me, the day after I would be aboard the first plane to Thailand, surely not in a cell.

Divorce is not the solution. The second couple aren't married yet.

What has divorce got to do with both cases??????? if you read carefully the first were already at the end of their marraige............ "The two are undergoing separation proceedings" and the second weren't even married............"assaulted his former girlfriend"
Divorce seems to have obsessed many and see it as a remedy to all calamities.....

Are you sure J Camilleri? Does divorce remove the anger and frustration of a relationship turned sour? I would have recommended respect and fidelity to the vows taken in the first place. Divorce is legal in Italy but this does not preclude that one of the spouses turns violent to the point of murdering the former partner. Please follow the news.

What has divorce go to do with this? I'm very much in favour of divorce, however, divorce or no divorce, seeing your ex partner with another will hurt a lot just the same.
