Obituary
ASCIAK-MIFSUD. On October 7, at Mater Dei Hospital, JOYCE, of Sliema, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her sister, May Cassar and her children Cecilia, Arthur, Theresa and Edward, the children of her late sister Evelyn Borg Cardona, Victoria, Albert, Edward, Joanne and Simone, and their families. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital tomorrow at 9 a.m. for Stella Maris parish church, Sliema, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 9.30 a.m., followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery (top gate). No flowers by request but donations to Dar tal-Providenza, Siġġiewi, will be greatly appreciated. Lord, grant her eternal rest.
BORDA. On October 5, at Mater Dei Hospital, LOUISE, née Earley of St Julians, aged 75, went to meet the Risen Lord, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her irreplaceable loss her husband Tony, her children Anna and her husband Vincent Rizzo, John and Edwidge, Joseph and Diane and Dr Maria and her husband Mario Cachia, her sister Isabelle Manduca and her brother Ernest, her grandchildren Mark and his wife Christine, Adam and Maria, Peter, Anthony, Kurt and Thea, Malcolm, Miguel, Andrew, Emma and Louise, her great-granddaughter Aaliyah and her nephew of Australia, Paul. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital tomorrow at 2 p.m. for St Julians parish church where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 2.30 p.m., followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to the Malta Hospice Movement, Balzan, will be greatly appreciated. Lord, grant her eternal rest.
FRENDO. On October 6, DORIS, née Zarb Adami, wife of the late Antoine, of Sliema, passed away peacefully, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her children Peter and his wife Daniela, Corinne and her husband Dr Richard Camilleri, her grandchildren Daniel and Rebecca, her sister Maria and her husband Antoine Ruggier, her brother Michael Zarb Adami and his wife Carmen, nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital today at 2 p.m. for Stella Maris parish church, Sliema, where Mass praesente cadavere will be celebrated at 2.30 p.m., followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Fatima House, High Street, Sliema, will be greatly appreciated. The family wish to thank the consultant, doctors, nurses and staff of the Observation Ward, Mater Dei Hospital, for their care and dedication. Lord, grant her eternal rest.
THEUMA. On October 5, at Mater Dei Hospital, JANE, née Grech, widow of Edmond, aged 66, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her irreplaceable loss her son Robert and his wife Diane, her daughter Nadine, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital tomorrow at 8 a.m. for Our Lady of Mount Carmel parish church, Balluta, St Julians, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 8.30 a.m., followed by interment in the family grave at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to the Malta Hospice Movement, Balzan, will be greatly appreciated. Lord, grant her eternal rest.

Music competition
Prize winners of the 12th Bice Mizzi-Vassallo Music Competition held in 2009 will be performing in a fund-raising concert that will be held at the Music Room of St James Centre for Creativity, in Valetta on October 15 at 9 p.m.. Pianists Bettina Cassar and Maria Elena Farrugia will be performing works by Schubert, Debussy, Beethoven and Chopin. A special guest will be soprano Francesca Aquilina who will be accompanied by pianist Joanne Camilleri. On the same occasion, the National Council of Women will be launching the 13th edition of its biennial competition that will be held in December 2011.
Entrance to the concert is free but a €10 donation towards the competition fund will be appreciated.

From 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Bankiera and parts of Industrija, Kummerċ and Mitħna streets in Qormi.
From 8 a.m. to 4.30 p.m. in Valletta Road, the Bur ta’ Dingli area and L-Andar ta’ Fuq in Mqabba.
From 2.30 to 5 p.m. in Gajdoru, Masri and Għajn Qamar in Xagħra.
