Logos Hope, the world's biggest floating bookfair, today hosted an extensive fire emergency drill, enabling rescue teams to practice their response to an incident on a cruise ship in Grand Harbour.

A team from the ship, currently in Grand Harbour, arranged the drill several weeks in advance in partnership with VISET Malta, the Civil Protection Department and the Health Department.

The simulation began at 8:00 a.m. and involved many emergency vehicles. As firefighters determined the best course of action to extinguish a theoretical fire on board, the ladder truck “rescued” crew members with feigned injuries.

"Although numerous ships berth at the Valletta Waterfront, they are not often available to be used for public purposes. In addition to providing an onboard book fair and participating in local events, Logos Hope seeks to serve the community of Valletta by making itself available for public service initiatives," the operators of the Logos said.
