On behalf of all animal lovers, I would like to thank and congratulate the Minister for Rural Affairs and the Environment, George Pullicino, for the wonderful initiative of providing us with the St Francis animal welfare centre at Ta’ Qali.
I had the privilege to be present for the official opening of the centre on Sunday morning and was truly impressed with the facilities it offers for the care of our “four-legged friends”. Making the rounds of the centre one feels that one is in a top notch clinic for humans, and this together with the provision of the Animal Ambulance Service introduced some time back will go a long way to give all animal lovers peace of mind that care is available for their pets round the clock.
The minister also announced that in the coming weeks further initiatives will be launched to safeguard all animals, an announcement very well received by those present, most of whom were accompanied by their pets. It was indeed refreshing to hear the Prime Minister say in his speech that caring for pets is an important educational tool in the formation of our children.
Very well done!
