PricewaterhouseCoopers has completed compliance audits of GreenPak for the years from 2006 to 2009.

Greenpak is the largest packaging waste recovery scheme in Malta and is operated by Green Dot Malta Limited. These audits were based on the Malta Environment and Planning Authority’s detailed testing guidelines related to permitted packaging waste recovery schemes and on the information reported to Mepa by GreenPak.

“Such compliance audit reporting respects the need for transparency and supports continuous improvement of corporate governance and sustainability of the GreenPak scheme for the long term,” PricewaterhouseCoopers Malta partner George Sammut said. “Such audits will help management to convey to stakeholders the reliability of the procedures and practices of GreenPak as operated by Green Dot Malta Limited.”

Mepa’s compliance audits demand that a sound auditing procedure for traceability, monitoring, and control is in place for all the packaging waste managed in relation to the respective packaging waste recovery scheme permit. The audit trail covers all packaging waste from the point of generation or collection to the end recovery or disposal facility.
