Dogs left strangled
I am so shocked and disgusted after reading of the two dogs that were left to die a cruel way in Qrendi (October 5). I just can’t think why a person could do such a thing to innocent animals.
So I ask, were the dogs misbehaving? Were the dogs strays or pests? The culprit is a sick person because no living creature should go through that. There is no excuse for animal abuse. These days there are organisations which deal with animals, so a simple phone call could have saved these dogs’ lives. Or is the culprit just a bully picking on defenceless animals to boost his ego? This is a shame to the human race and I feel disgust and yet pity for these people, for not respecting God’s creations.
I hope the police and animal welfare unit catch the culprit and punish him. An appeal to everyone please: Do report animal abuse, we are the voice so only we can help stop animal cruelty.

Speaking for creatures that cannot speak for themselves. There are "people" people, and there "animal" people. I am an "animal" pepole. It took a long time to accept this, especially since I had been denying it since childhood. "You like animals more than people!" was an accusation I heard more than once from my peers. "No, I don't!" I'd protest. Until one day I realized that they were right. Among the reasons being that young animals that happen to be a bit different. Animals do not take delight in deliberate cruelty. But man's inhumanity toward animals is unbounded. We have a reminder of right here. I don't want to speculate on any connection to other reported cases of cruelty. Animal killings could be 'The type of a religious ritual with animal sacrifice.

I agree with you 100% here Anthea and hope the persons responsible are reported to the police and made to pay. As you say no animal should be treated in this way especially in this day and age when the solution to what you may see as a problem is only a phone call away.

dog POO, do to the owners as we used to do to the Dogs, RUB THEIR FACES IN IT !!! Would,nt that be Great !!! Good Lesson though !

The Culcript should be shot , if caught. As to the latest , dog poo left on the Sliema front I suggest that carmeras are installed to dissuade the dirty dog owner and make him pay for his negligence .

The same applies to those who leave their dogs on rooftops barking and annoying their neighbours. Police, Animal Welfare have no power due to lack of strong law.
Politicians please take note and implement a 'dog barking law'.

or inside their flats which is also cruel.The fashion at the moment is walking one or two dogs on Tower Road leaving a mess on Pavements & the rocky beach.
