Breathtaking natural backdrops for true mountain experiences – winter sports enthusiasts in search of something extraordinary, find it in the south of Vorarlberg.

In the Montafon skiing areas one can experience a total of 243 kilometres, superbly groomed runs and two particular highlights. First, there’s the HochjochTotale, Vorarlberg’s longest downhill run, measuring 12 km in length, and then there’s the Diabolo slope - with a gradient of up to 70 per cent – making it one of the steepest ski runs in Austria.

Unlike in most other skiing resorts, the term “Après ski” isn’t only used to describe the fun of rustic ski hut evenings. Instead it also embraces genuinely exciting alternatives after a skiing day. And so you finish your day sledging on the longest night-time tobogganing run in Vorarlberg, hike your way to the Flying Fox at night, where you attach yourself to a cable and fly over the reservoir, or ride up the steepest slopes on a snow cat – maybe as the driver?

Ski tour enthusiasts can choose from two genuine highlights: The Silvretta ski safari or the Madrisa circular tour. If one would prefer off-piste skiing in deep powder snow, the Nidla is the place to be. This legendary slope in Gargellen can confidently be considered as one of the most beautiful of its kind in the whole world.
