A 35-year-old Libyan this afternoon pleaded not guilty to the attempted murder of Tunisian Said Bouslama, 44, of St Paul’s Bay.

Nure Kamakam, who is unemployed, was also charged with causing Mr Bouslama serious injuries and careless driving.

His request for bail will be heard at the next sitting.

Mr Bouslama was hit by a car driven by Mr Kamakam while talking to another man on a pavement in St Paul's Bay last Friday. He was rushed to hospital with a gaping wound to the right leg, from which he was bleeding profusely.

Mr Kamakam claimed that the victim had a gun and called for the police and the man who was with Mr Bouslama fled the scene.
