Virtù Ferries catamaran for Gozo link

Virtù Ferries recently took delivery of their newest catamaran ferry, the Jean de la Vallette. The company must be commended for providing such modern means of transport on the Malta-Sicily route.

In view of the debate on whether Gozo should have a fixed-wing air connection and the European Commission not looking kindly on Gozo Channel’s monopoly, it just crossed my mind that Virtù Ferries might provide a fast, efficient, catamaran connection between the islands.

I am imagining the catamaran Maria Dolores providing a service linking Grand Harbour with Mġarr. I remember making use of the little catamaran from Sliema to Mġarr, and do not know why this service was stopped.
