Cyclist Cliff Micallef passed away over a year ago and nothing serious has been done to safeguard cyclists from accidents caused by the reckless behaviour of some motorists.

Many cyclists and pedestrians are still seen roaming the roads, especially on Saturdays and Sundays. Crash helmets and fluorescent clothing are not enough.

I suggest that the promenade road of Wied Iż-Żurrieq be extended to Lapsi Road, since cyclists use it.

This road is ideal as it is free from traffic, especially in winter. On Saturdays and Sundays, many use it at sunset for a ramble. Sometimes it is full with picnickers enjoying their hampers.

I hope the authorities take up this suggestion.
