Strolling through Victoria, I happened by chance on the Best Buy Arcade in Market Street and tucked away in this mini-mall I found a charity shop – AFDA or the Ability For Disability Association.
A very helpful lady explained the objectives of the charity – to support the Santa Marta Day Centre and to facilitate the inclusion in society of disabled people and those with learning difficulties by living independently. The lady did not have much time, however, as they were replacing summer clothing stock with winter ones, some of it new, all of it good quality and at very reasonable prices. Their excellent book stock was like looking at a best-seller list and, for old technology people like me they even had a range of videos.
I think charities like AFDA deserve all the support they can get. Their people are dedicated and committed and give up most of their time in fund-raising activities. A friendly reception awaits all visitors, who will get a bargain as well.
