Further to my letter of September 25, I wish to thank Denis Darmanin for providing documentation that Dr Teodore Bonnici, though a civilian, was awarded the Egyptian War Medal on April 7, 1883 for his services as medical doctor to the Royal Malta Fencible Artillery when they fought in Egypt in 1882.

As far as I know this is the first time confirmation of the award of the Egyptian medal to Dr Bonnici has been made public and therefore no doubt this new historical fact by Mr Darmanin will now be included in future Maltese military history.
