Heritage Malta next Saturday will be opening Ħaġar Qim and Mnajdra free of charge to all visitors.

The two temples and the newly built visitors' centre will be open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. to give visitors an opportunity to see the shelters which were erected above the two temples to protect them from the elements and halt the deterioration which was taking place.

Heritage Malta will be setting up several Info Points in the visitors centre and in other areas to provide visitors with background information. There will be information on interpretation and design, the shelters project, stone and object conservation, natural habitats and the scientific studies which were carried out before, during and after the project. There will also be activity areas, including a hands-on pottery display, during which information will be given about the pottery which was excavated in these archaeological sites.

Heritage Malta will be providing free transport to Ħaġar Qim at 9 a.m. and 10 a.m. from opposite the Phoenicia Hotel in Floriana and at 9.30 from Ċirkewwa. The buses returning to Floriana will leave Ħaġar Qim at 11.30 a.m and 12.30 respectively while the bus taking visitors back to Ċirkewwa leaves at 12.30.
